Physics 161 Exams
Fall 2006
Exam Rules
- Bring your student ID to the exam. You will not be allowed to
take the exam without it! Also bring a pen or pencil and a working
calculator. You will be provided with an exam book for the exam.
- No notes or books allowed during the exam. You will be given a
formula sheet (see below).
Tips for Doing Well
- Keep track of time and be sure you attempt all problems. Even if
you don't get the final answer, correctly setting up a problem is
usually worth about half credit.
- Show your work. You won't get credit unless the grader can
understand how you got your answer. Always
draw a clear diagram and define all symbols that you use.
- Get a good night's sleep before the exam. Staying up all night
studying is almost always counterproductive.
Study Tips
- Practice problem-solving, don't just re-read the book and your
notes.
- Take the sample exam under real test conditions. This will help
you identifiy what you need to work on.
- Start studying early and get help on the topics that give you
trouble. Don't cram!
