Sponsored by

Recognizing the changing place of physics in society, the University of Maryland at College Park, the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Physical Society, and the American Institute of Physics are sponsoring the International Conference on Physics Undergraduate Education (ICUPE). The conference will be held at the University of Maryland at College Park from July 31 to August 3, 1996, just prior to the summer meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers which is scheduled for the same site.

Changing economic, political, social, and technological factors are having a dramatic effect on physics education in all nations. This conference will be an opportunity for individuals who are rethinking university-level physics education to get together to share ideas, compare approaches, and discuss where we are going.

The Conference will include general overviews as plenary talks, specialized examples in parallel sessions, poster sessions of invited and contributed papers, samples of innovative classes, and panel discussions.
