The problem with projects
Project work with freshman and sophomore majors did not catch on at Maryland.
Catch 22 —
- Advising projects takes a lot of time. A research oriented department can share the load.
- Reading, evaluating, and grading projects takes a lot of time. Research oriented faculty are rarely willing to spend this extra time.
