DIGITAL INPUT E. Beise March 1, 2001 This version uses the Nov 15, 1999 notation for the G0 valve panel (after changeover to SAMPLE-type notation). The majority of the digital input is valve status. The ADIO #1 and ADIO #2 slot A connectors will comprise the input. The valve micro switches will be wired two 2 bits of input with the following arrangement. The switches normally transmit 5 V if they are OPEN. They close when the valve goes to fully OPEN or CLOSED, both will be open if the valve is somewhere in between. "0" = 0 V 00 = power failure (no 5 V) "1" = 5 V 01=closed (O switch OPEN) 10=open (C switch OPEN) 11 = halfway (both switches OPEN) The cabling will be such that each 16-pin connector to breakout box #1 (BB1) will contain 4 valves, so let's call each connector a "cluster". This allows the possibility for each valve to have its own ground, although on a given valve, the two grounds will be wired together (3 wires per valve at the panel, 4 wires per valve in the cable going to the controls). There is room on BB1 for 12 clusters, so there is plenty of spare. The first bit will be the "OPEN" valve position (i.e., at 5 V if CLOSED microswitch is OPEN), and the 2nd bit will be the "CLOSED" valve position (at 5V if the OPEN microswitch is OPEN). The pins on the ADIO start counting at 1. The channels start counting at 0.
