Hall effect in a system of coupled Luttinger chains
Andrei Lopatin
(Department of Physics and Astronomy, Rutgers University)
Abstract: I consider the Hall effect in a system of weakly
coupled one-dimensional chains with the Luttinger interaction within each
chain. At zero temperature, using a perturbation theory in the inter-chain
hopping term, I find a power law dependence of the Hall conductivity on
the magnetic field with an exponent depending on the interaction constant.
The perturbation theory becomes valid if the magnetic field is sufficiently
large. I will discuss some aspects of a generalization of the theory
to finite temperatures.
