The Fractional Quantum Hall Effect, High-Temperature Superconductivity,
and Quantum Computation
Chetan Nayak
(Department of Physics, University of California at Los Angeles)
Abstract: I will discuss topological order in the fractional
quantum Hall effect, with particular emphasis on the possibility of non-Abelian
braiding statistics. I will also discuss the possible realization
of topological order in the high-temperature superconducting cuprates.
Possible applications to quantum computation will be considered.
