Large enhancement of weak-field thermal Hall conductivity in YBCO
N. P. Ong
(Princeton University)
Abstract: Recent measurements of the quasiparticle thermal
Hall conductivity kxy in high-purity YBCO crystals reveal a
very large enhancement of the weak-field value across Tc.
Between 90 and 30 K, the weak-field value of kxy increases by
1,000. This extraordinary enhancement is consistent with a factor
of 40-fold increase in the quasiparticle lifetime. We will discuss
the quasiparticle lifetime, Hall angle and the change in scattering as
we cross Tc.
