Physics 161 Homework
Fall 2006
About the Homework
- Homework problems are on the MasteringPhysics
web-based homework system.
- Problems are due before
9:30AM on the due date listed.
- Homework problems will be of two types: "Tutorial" problems are
graded only online. "Regular" problems must be done online, and in
addition a written version of the solution must be handed in at the
beginning of class on the due date. One written problem from each
assignment will be graded by a TA. Written solutions to regular
problems will be posted on this site.
- Written solutions must show
the reasoning
leading to the final
answer in a way that the grader can understand. Answers without explanation will no
credit, whether or not the final answer is right or wrong. Partial
credit will be given for correct reasoning even if the answer is wrong.
- Homework must be legible, all sheets must be stapled
together, and your name must be on it.
- You
must hand in your own work. Copying homework is cheating.
MasteringPhysics Grading
- You get 6 tries per question
- There is a –3% penalty for each wrong answer on each question.
- Some questions have hints. If you do not use any hints, you get a +2%
bonus for the question. This means it is possible to get over 100% on
an assignment, but grades over 100% are counted as 100%.
