Graphing a pulse -3

A. A pulse moving on a beaded elastic string is shaped as shown in the figure below is moving to the right (with its displacement greatly exaggerated). On the line below the graph is shown a picture of these beads. For each bead, draw an arrow indicating its velocity at the instant shown. Scale your arrows so that longer arrows indicate faster speeds.

B. One of the beads in the figure is colored red. In the graphs below, sketch graphs of

  1. the y-displacement of the bead,
  2. the x-displacement of the bead,
  3. the x-velocity of the bead,
  4. the y-velocity of the bead, and
  5. the y-acceleration of the bead all as a function of time.
