Dr. Sullivan Lands at the
South Pole
Dr. Gregory W. Sullivan,
Associate Professor of Physics recently arrived at the South Pole.
He is leading the UM Physics' Particle Astrophysics research group
in a new research direction with the new "IceCube" experiment.
Building on the success they have had with neutrinos over the past
seven years, the experiment is designed to observe very high energy
neutrino interactions 2km under the Antarctic ice at the South Pole.
Dr. Sullivan will be at the pole for the next few weeks to help
get this new endeavor underway.
Dr. Sullivan was recently
highlighted in "The Photon", the department's online newsletter.
