Professor Sylvester James Gates of the University of Maryland Physics Department was selected as a recipient of the 2004 University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents' Faculty Award for Excellence in Mentoring. This award is the highest honor that the Board bestows to recognize exemplary faculty achievement.

Dr. Gates will be recognized by the Regents during the public session of the Friday, April 16, 2004, Board meeting at University of Maryland University College.
